Convert HTML to Markdown in your browser. Headings, lists, links, tables and code blocks all come across. Your file never leaves this page. Everything happens in your browser, and there is no upload endpoint to send it to — that is checked by a build gate that fails if any network code reaches a tool’s bundle.
How to do it
- Paste your HTML, or drop the file onto the box.
- Press Convert to Markdown.
- Press Copy.
Questions
What happens to HTML that Markdown cannot express?
It is kept as HTML rather than dropped. Markdown allows inline HTML, so a <details> block or a table with a colspan survives intact — deleting a tag because the target language lacks a syntax for it would lose your content.
Are scripts removed?
Yes, entirely, contents included. The same applies to stylesheets. Neither is prose, and inlining them into a document is meaningless.
Why is my indented HTML not a code block?
Because source indentation is collapsed, the way a browser collapses it. Copying it through would turn every indented paragraph into a code block, which is the commonest bug in converters of this kind.
