Convert a PNG into a JPG. Usually done to make a large screenshot or export dramatically smaller, or to satisfy something that only accepts JPEG. Your file never leaves this page. Everything happens in your browser, and there is no upload endpoint to send it to — that is checked by a build gate that fails if any network code reaches a tool’s bundle.
How to do it
- Add your PNG files.
- Set the output format to JPEG.
- Convert, and download the results.
Questions
What happens to transparent areas?
They are filled with white, because JPEG has no way to store transparency. The tool checks the actual pixels and only mentions it when something really was transparent — a PNG that merely could have been loses nothing, and a warning nobody needs is a warning people learn to ignore.
How much smaller will it be?
For a photograph, usually a great deal. For a screenshot or a flat graphic, sometimes not much, and JPEG will add fuzzy edges around text where PNG had none. Screenshots are one of the few cases where PNG is genuinely the right format.
Is the conversion reversible?
No. JPEG discards detail, and converting back to PNG cannot recover it. Keep the PNG if you may need to edit the image later.
Does the file get compressed as well?
Conversion writes the image at a high quality setting rather than trying to shrink it. If you want it smaller, compress it afterwards — two deliberate steps rather than one that quietly does both.
