Resize Image

Resize an image in your browser — fit it inside a size, fill that size exactly, or scale by a percentage. Your file never leaves this page. Everything happens in your browser, and there is no upload endpoint to send it to — that is checked by a build gate that fails if any network code reaches a tool’s bundle.

How to do it

  1. Drop your image onto the box.
  2. Choose how the size should be applied, and type it.
  3. Press the button, then download.

Questions

What is the difference between fitting and filling?

Fitting gives you the largest image that goes inside the size you named, keeping the shape — so nothing is cropped and the result is usually smaller than the box in one direction. Filling covers the size exactly, also keeping the shape, and crops whatever does not fit. The page tells you how much a fill would crop before you press anything.

Why will it not make my image bigger?

Because enlarging does not add detail. A 400px image scaled to 4000px is a blurry 4000px file that is many times the size and no better. There is a switch for it if you genuinely need the canvas that large.

Does resizing spoil the quality?

Making an image smaller is done in steps rather than in one jump, which is what keeps fine detail from breaking into shimmer. A photograph reduced this way looks the way it should.
