Add emphasis to a comment or a post on a platform with no formatting controls. Styled Unicode pastes into almost any plain-text field and keeps its appearance. Your file never leaves this page. Everything happens in your browser, and there is no upload endpoint to send it to — that is checked by a build gate that fails if any network code reaches a tool’s bundle.
How to do it
- Write your comment.
- Style the part you want to stand out.
- Copy the whole thing and paste it into the comment box.
Before you use this
Styled text of this kind is made from Unicode characters that look like letters but are not the letters they resemble. That has three consequences worth knowing about:
- A screen reader does not read it as words. Someone using one hears a stream of character names, or silence.
- It is not searchable. A search for the plain word will not find the styled version, on this site or anywhere else.
- It breaks hashtags and usernames on every platform that uses them.
It also does not work for every language. Several major writing systems — Bangla, Hindi and the other Devanagari scripts, Arabic, Hebrew, Thai, and Chinese, Japanese and Korean — have no styled letters in Unicode at all. No tool can style them, including this one, and text in those scripts is passed through unchanged rather than mangled. Use it for a heading or a line of emphasis, not for anything anyone needs to read or find.
Questions
Which sites does this work on?
Most of them, because most comment boxes accept plain text and this is plain text. Some strip unusual characters, and a few reject them outright — the only way to know for certain is to paste it and look at the preview before posting.
Should I style the whole comment?
No. A whole comment in styled characters is unreadable to anyone using a screen reader and invisible to search. One line or one phrase for emphasis is what this is for.
Will it get my comment removed?
Some communities treat heavy use of these characters as spam, and some moderation systems act on that automatically. Used sparingly it is rarely a problem; used for an entire post it often is.
Is my comment stored anywhere?
No. What you type stays in this page and is gone when you close it.
