Bold Text Generator

Make bold text you can paste into places that do not have a bold button — a social bio, a profile headline, a chat message, a spreadsheet cell. Your file never leaves this page. Everything happens in your browser, and there is no upload endpoint to send it to — that is checked by a build gate that fails if any network code reaches a tool’s bundle.

How to do it

  1. Type your text.
  2. The bold version appears beside it as you type.
  3. Copy it and paste it where you need it.

Before you use this

Styled text of this kind is made from Unicode characters that look like letters but are not the letters they resemble. That has three consequences worth knowing about:

  • A screen reader does not read it as words. Someone using one hears a stream of character names, or silence.
  • It is not searchable. A search for the plain word will not find the styled version, on this site or anywhere else.
  • It breaks hashtags and usernames on every platform that uses them.

It also does not work for every language. Several major writing systems — Bangla, Hindi and the other Devanagari scripts, Arabic, Hebrew, Thai, and Chinese, Japanese and Korean — have no styled letters in Unicode at all. No tool can style them, including this one, and text in those scripts is passed through unchanged rather than mangled. Use it for a heading or a line of emphasis, not for anything anyone needs to read or find.

Questions

Why does my platform not have bold already?

Most social networks and chat apps accept only plain text in profiles and comments. These characters get round that because they are not formatting at all — they are different characters that happen to look bold.

Will it look the same everywhere?

Close, but not identical. Each device draws these characters with whatever font it has, so a phone and a desktop can render them slightly differently, and a system missing the font shows empty boxes.

Can I bold a hashtag?

You can, but it stops being a hashtag. The platform will not link it and nobody searching the tag will find your post.

Does it work in Arabic or Hindi?

No, and no tool can make it. Those scripts have no bold letters in Unicode, so the text is returned unchanged rather than replaced with something that looks approximately right.
