Add Page Numbers to a PDF

Add page numbers to a PDF in your browser — any corner, in digits, roman numerals or letters, skipping a cover if you have one. Your file never leaves this page. Everything happens in your browser, and there is no upload endpoint to send it to — that is checked by a build gate that fails if any network code reaches a tool’s bundle.

How to do it

  1. Drop your PDF onto the box.
  2. Choose where the numbers go and how they should look.
  3. Add the numbers and download.

Questions

How do I skip the cover?

Set “skip this many pages at the front” to 1. The cover gets no number, and the next page is numbered 1 — those are two separate settings, so front matter that should read i, ii, iii and a body that starts again at 1 are both possible.

Can I write “Page 3 of 12”?

Yes. Several formats are offered, and the total counts only the pages that are actually numbered.

What about pages that are sideways?

The number is placed and turned so it reads the right way up on the page as you see it, not as the file stores it.
