Watermark a PDF

Stamp text across every page of a PDF — tiled and angled, or in one corner, at an opacity you choose. Your file never leaves this page. Everything happens in your browser, and there is no upload endpoint to send it to — that is checked by a build gate that fails if any network code reaches a tool’s bundle.

How to do it

  1. Drop your PDF onto the box.
  2. Type the text, and choose how it should sit on the page.
  3. Add the watermark and download.

Questions

Does a watermark protect my document?

No, and it is worth being plain about it. A watermark is drawn into the page like any other content, so somebody with the right software can take it out again. What it does well is make a copy obviously a copy — a draft obviously a draft.

How faint should it be?

Faint enough to read through. Above about 40% opacity the mark starts competing with the text underneath, which usually defeats the purpose.

Can I put it in a corner instead?

Yes. Tiled across the page is harder to crop out; a single mark in a corner is less intrusive. Both are offered.
