Title Case Converter

Put a heading into proper title case, with short words kept lowercase the way every style guide asks. Your file never leaves this page. Everything happens in your browser, and there is no upload endpoint to send it to — that is checked by a build gate that fails if any network code reaches a tool’s bundle.

How to do it

  1. Paste your heading in.
  2. Press Title Case.
  3. Copy the result.

Questions

Which style guide does this follow?

The rule all the major ones share: capitalise the first and last word, capitalise everything else except short articles, conjunctions and prepositions. Chicago, AP and APA differ on the details — mostly on how long a preposition has to be before it gets capitalised — and this follows the common core.

What happens after a colon?

The first word of a subtitle is capitalised, even if it is a short word. A Study: The Art of War, not A Study: the Art of War.

Why is my brand name being changed?

It should not be. Any word containing a capital letter after the first character is passed through untouched. If a name is entirely lowercase by design, it will be capitalised — that case is indistinguishable from an ordinary word.
