Turn a spreadsheet or CSV into JSON. Quoted commas, line breaks inside cells and semicolon-separated files all read correctly. Your file never leaves this page. Everything happens in your browser, and there is no upload endpoint to send it to — that is checked by a build gate that fails if any network code reaches a tool’s bundle.
How to do it
- Paste your CSV, or drop the file onto the box.
- Press Convert to JSON.
- Press Copy.
Questions
Why do values come out as text?
Because turning 007 into the number 7 destroys it, and the same applies to phone numbers, postcodes and part codes. There is a switch to read numbers and true/false as types when you know your data — and even then, anything with a leading zero stays text.
My file uses semicolons. Will that work?
Yes. Excel writes semicolons on machines where the comma is the decimal separator, and the delimiter is detected from the file. Tabs and pipes work too.
What about commas inside a cell?
They are handled. A quoted field may contain commas, line breaks and quotes — this reads the file properly rather than splitting it on commas, which is what breaks most converters on any file containing an address.
